Swick Mining Services has been named Mining Contractor of the Year at the 2018 Australia’s Mining Monthly Awards.
The top spot has come at a time where Swick has successfully positioned itself in the industry as a provider of premium-quality mineral drilling services.
The awards, now in their second year, have quickly risen to be one of the most prestigious awards in Australia. The Mining Contractor of the Year category recognises contractors that add value to their projects or find ways to bring real cost savings, productivity gains and/or safety benefits.
Managing Director of Swick Mining Services Kent Swick said the company’s approach to manufacturing best-practice drill rigs & developing unique drilling practices has set industry benchmarks for productivity, value, safety and versatility.
“Our unique, jumbo-mounted diamond drill rigs provide significant productivity and safety improvements over standard drill rigs, and are considerably more versatile in their drilling capabilities” said Mr Swick.
Having established its cornerstone underground diamond drilling division in 2004, Swick is fast approaching an amazing milestone of drilling is 10 millionth metre of diamond core, which is expected to be drilled sometime in July 2018.
Swick has also ventured into intelligent mineral analysis. By venture funding from 2013 (and subsequently buying out in 2017) a small and dedicated R&D company called Orexplore AB, which is based in Stockholm, Swick can offer the entire global mineral drilling market a world first mineral scanning instrument and associated software. Orexplore will launch in Australia next month and has the ability to replace long lead time lab analysis with accurate, non-destructive on-site analysis of drill cores.
“Geologists can now take advantage of almost instantaneous information to help find and extract valuable mineral resources” said Mr Swick.
Both services are set to excel as the Australian market presents increased drilling opportunities and availabilities of rigs from quality providers tighten.
