Our Story
Initially founded as an underground long-hole production drilling business, Swick Mining noticed the need for an underground mobile diamond drill rig.
From this, a rig was born: the Swick Gen I. It was founded on “Excellence unearthed”, the idea that the mining industry needed a powerful mobile rig combined with skilled underground drillers to support their safety and productivity. Today, Swick Mining continues to support mining operations around the world.

Our History
Since beginning operations in 1997, Swick Mining Services has quickly grown to become one of the largest globally recognised mineral drilling contractors.
1997
Swick Mining Services was initially founded as an underground long-hole production drilling business.
2004
Our dedicated team successfully builds its first underground mobile diamond drill rig.
2006
Swick is listed on the ASX.
2009
Underground diamond coring operations commence in North America.
2012
Underground diamond coring operations begin in Portugal.
2018
Swick is awarded 2018 Mining Contractor of the Year by Australia’s Mining Monthly. Swick celebrates 10 million metres of diamond core drilled.
2019
Swick starts a new deep hole drilling division called DeepEX.
2021
Swick starts Swick Engineering.
2022
Swick is acquired by DDH1 Limited.
2023
Swick operate globally, with 76 rigs, and counting.
