COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

OUR PROGRAM

Working together in the community

At Swick, we’re dedicated to giving back to the local communities in which we operate. We’re community focused in our thinking, and we strive to create positive changes by making a difference for those around us. We embody this through our support of a wide range of community initiatives.

Community Partnerships Program

We’re incredibly passionate and proud about the partnerships we support. Every year, we play an active role in providing financial assistance and grants to local businesses, clubs, charities, non-profit organisations and events that enrich the wider community.

Who we support

The initiatives we support are guided by our corporate values. The key areas we
focus on fostering positive relationships within the community are:

  • Indigenous engagement and support
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Health and safety in mining
  • Mental health
  • Sport and recreation

We sponsor the Casa do Benfica de Almodôvar cycling team, based in Almodôvar, Portugal – a small town situated near our operations at Neves Corvo mine. The team began cycling in regional competitions and now compete on a national and international scale. We are proud to be the team’s principal sponsor for 3 years running.

Murlpirrmarra Connection is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2010, which provides educational, sporting, health and well-being opportunities for Aboriginal youth in the remote communities of Wiluna, Leonora and surrounding regions. To date, the organisation has achieved an average attendance rate of 91%. This year, Swick has supported the Leonora community with a range of different initiatives including the regional community football and sporting carnivals, tennis coaching clinics, education, administrative and travel support, and assisting with the facilitation of legal support for Indigenous claimants.

Swick Mining is a proud supporter of Lifeline, a national charity providing all Australians with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.

Swick operates 2 rigs at the Olympic Dam mine site in South Australia, where we also sponsor the local football, netball and cricket teams from the Olympic Dam Sporting Club.
